Bad |
|
This book is bad. It is poorly written and the programs did not work on my computer. Even the first project--intended as a simple confidence-builder--required that the code be completely rewritten. Deciphering the authors programming was maddening. Also, some of the projects are dumb: is anyone *really* going to build a burglar detector from this book?

A valuable resource with real world examples of interfacing |
|
Controlling the World With Your Pc covers a vast array of interface topics, from stepper motors to alarm systems to Analog interface. The text is clear and straitforward with useful discussion of the circut and the accompanying program. The programs are well documented so only a rudimentary knowledge is necessary to get through the examples, and some programming tecniques can be learned just form the examples. The book gives enough information to facilitate further developement of custom interfaces based on those in the book, or those that are completely origional.

Difficult to follow and too technical for people new to PS 6 |
There is no doubt the quality of the paper and the cover. Indeed the photos are great inside. Having a book that focuses on the photographers using PS 6 is a great idea!I bought the book after reading the reviews; unfortunately I havent had a great experience. The book is far too technical without the background. Sure if you had a sound knowledge of Photoshop it may be fine. So before you buy the book ask yourself do you know what CMYK is! Do you have a sound knowledge of the principles of Photoshop and how to use it? Im sure it is me, but this certainly didnt make life easy for me, Im going to go out and buy a beginners book.
